Thor: love and thunder promises to revolutionize the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an adventure full of unbridled humor and extraordinary characters. For the occasion, Taika Waititi will return as director after his success with the third installment, Ragnarok.
Much anticipation has been built around the movie that will bring Natalie Portman back as the new goddess of thunder. The news gave rise to several speculations about the role of Chris Hemsworth and his future in the franchise, but the filmmaker confirmed that the actor will continue to be the star of the show.
However, it will not be the only special participation. During Disney investor day, the president of Marvel Studios confirmed that Christian Bale will debut in Phase 4 of the MCU as Gorr, the god butcher (The butcher of the gods). The character was created in 2013 by Jason Aaron and cartoonist Esad Ribic.
To the delight of fans of the saga, Jaimie Alexander, Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi also confirmed their appearance as Lady Sif, Valkyria and Korg, respectively. The first was part of fiction from the first installment, while the other two were integrated into Thor: Ragnarok.

Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, and Karen Gillan will also return as Starlord, Drax, Mantis, and Nebula. Also, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper will once again voice Groot and Rocket.
What few expected is that Matt Damon will also have a role in the film. This would not be his first participation in the MCU, since he played an Asgardian in the second installment of Thor: A Dark World.
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
