Although today anime and cartoons are appreciated as a form of art and entertainment, During the 80s and 90s these works were accused of promoting Satanism. This was the case of an old pamphlet that pointed out dragon ball as one of the main exponents of this ideology that was focused on distancing the youth of Mexico from the path of God.
Recently, an old pamphlet from a religious organization reappeared, stating that Goku and his friends promoted Satanism, as well as witchcraft and other practices that were focused on promoting eastern spirituality in the children of Mexico. This is just a fragment of what was mentioned in this regard:
“Did you know that these creators have a pact with Satan? What does Dragon Ball mean? It means: ‘The Beast coming’.
It belongs to the world of the Sayayinos and in some eastern areas, the possessed are called Sayayin. In his fights he uses techniques, whose names mean, for example: El Hame HAME HA, words used by Japanese witches and spiritualists in satanic rites, who feel his power and presence.
More than anything, this small fragment makes it clear that the people behind the pamphlet didn’t have a single idea what they were talking about. Not only did they misspell some Dragon Ball concepts, but they didn’t even bother to see Akira Toriyama’s workwhich has more material in favor of its argument.
Yes ok Dragon Ball Z focused on fights against robots and aliens, the original anime dragon ball It had much crazier designs, which someone could relate to Satan, since we see vampires, mummies, monsters of all kinds, and even demons. Of course, all this with the comical and childish touch of the mangaka.
The passion for this type of designs led Toriyama to create Sand Landa work that even stars Beelzebub, a little demon with a name that would give any extremely religious person a heart attack. On related topics, One Piece surpasses Dragon Ball in sales. Likewise, this is the reason why Goku’s grandfather was not revived.
Author Note:
Luckily, these types of comments no longer exist. No one watches an anime nowadays and thinks it’s the work of the Devil. This pamphlet is a relic of the past, and it is a good thing that it is no longer with us. Although, yes, it is very funny to see the perception of religious groups of something like Dragon Ball or Pokémon.
