The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Ciudad Real will attempt to try again this Thursday, January 23, GMS, an Afghan refugee who resides in Ciudad Real, accused of sexually assaulting another compatriot, who was also under the International Protection Reception System of an NGO, and who got pregnant.
The trial, which should have been held on January 14, was suspended when the accused did not appear at the hearing and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued for this person.
According to the indictment, both met in Ciudad Real through International Protection Reception Program coordinated by an NGOestablishing a friendly relationship and the accused helping the victim to “integrate” into Spain more easily, given that he had been in the country for longer.
In mid-September 2022, the accused asked the victim to come to his home to give him the needle and thread that the woman had requested so she could make her own clothes.
While already at home, the accused invited the woman to consume alcoholic beverages, and she agreed to have a drink, which she did not finish. The man later forced the victim to go to his room against her will.
Once in the room, according to the document from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, The accused undressed the girl “tearing her shirt” and pulling down her pants and underwear. Then he “threw her on the bed” and raped her. As a result of these events, the woman became pregnant.
For all this, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is requesting a six-year prison sentence for the accused for a crime of sexual assault, in addition to ordering the expulsion of GMS from the territory once he has served three quarters of the sentence and with the prohibition to return to Spain within a period of ten years.
Additionally, request a compensation for the victim of 25,000 euros for the moral damages caused.
