The Mexican peso depreciates and the price of the dollar today, January 23, 2023, starts at 18.9257 pesos for each green bill, reported the Official Gazette of the Federation.
The Mexican peso began the fourth week of 2023 with gains, at the end of yesterday’s session at 18.1801 units, which represented an appreciation of 0.24% against Friday’s reference price.
“The dollar-weighted index is little changed, losing 0.01% against its main crosses, in a session with little relevant economic information,” local firm Banco Base said in an analysis note.
The strength of the Mexican currency in the fourth week of the year occurs after it registered its first negative week of 2023 when it was quoted up to 19 pesos per dollar.
Today, Tuesday, January 24, the peso begins the day trading at around 18.8533 units, which represents a depreciation of 0.0524 cents or 0.28% compared to yesterday’s close of 18.80 units.
