Mini has released images of a prototype of the future Mini Hatch (3-door), a model that will arrive in 2023. The lines of the car still under camouflage do not represent a design revolution, but elaborates on the well-known design that the model has been wearing since its rebirth. The development car shown relies on a 100% electric powertrain, yet the new generation will also be offered with a classic combustion engine. That version will be assembled in the UK, while the electric version will roll off the production line in China.
2023 Mini Countryman
In 2023, the new generation of the Mini Countryman will also appear on the scene. Striking: it would not only be available with a classic petrol engine and with a 100% electric powertrain, but also with a diesel power source. The assembly moves to Germany. The technical basis of the new Mini Countryman is that of the new BMW 2 Series as Active Tourer.
There is also talk of a completely new crossover, which can only be ordered with an electric powertrain, which would replace the five-door version of the Mini Hatch. The convertible version will be kept and would join the range a few months after the launch of the three-door version.
2027 John Cooper Works
In 2025, Mini will launch its last completely new model with combustion engine, which should result in sales that would be half electric by 2027. In 2030, the combustion engine will be permanently removed from the range and Mini will continue as a 100% electric manufacturer. The British BMW subsidiary promises that the brand’s sporting core values will remain intact, including through a electric John Cooper Works (GP).
