The video published on the TikTok account @comunidadhispanaenusa about the presence of Colombians in Elizabeth, New Jersey, has resonated in the Latino community, reaching more than 895,100 views, 62,300 likes and 606 comments. The clip shows part of the city that was founded in 1664 and since the 80s of the last century began to attract the Latin population of the United States.
Elizabeth, New Jersey, is a half-hour train ride from Manhattan, New York and it is a city where Latinos form an essential part of the community, especially Colombians, who have started restaurants, shops and businesses on Morris Avenue, now known as the “Colombian district.”
The truth is that in Elizabeth the Colombian community is so important who even prepare a special ceremony to raise the yellow, blue and red flag on July 18at City Hall, located in Winfield Scott Plaza.
