Last October 28 finally arrived Age of Empires IV to PC. After 16 years of waiting, fans of the RTS series can now enjoy a new installment, full of the combat and strategy that has so characterized these games. Thus, Xbox Mexico invited Atomix to a celebration event, where we had the opportunity to enjoy a series of quite interesting activities.
The appointment was in Val’Quirico, a town in the state of Tlaxcala, in Mexico. The interesting thing about this location is that its architecture is inspired by a town in Italy, with medieval-style structures. In this way, this place was perfect for an event of this type. With staff dressed as English, French and Mongol warriors, a special presentation was held focused on recreating a battle between these three civilizations.
After that, we had the opportunity to speak with Adam Isgreen, Creative Director at World’s Edge, and Philippe Boulle, Narrative Director at Relic Entertainment. Although the developers did not take it upon themselves to reveal new information related to future expansions, they did mention to us that the choice to return to the style of Age of Empires II, It is mainly because medieval times are the perfect environment to represent different civilizations. Finally, the question of a definitive version for Age of Mythology It is still not true, but the studios are aware of the wishes of the fans.
The rest of the event was filled with activities related to the game, such as archery practice, specific places to play Age of Empires IV and a themed escape room where the objective was to defeat a dragon with the help of King Arthur.
Without a doubt, this was a great return to face-to-face events, and it shows that the Xbox team always has Mexico in their sights for these kinds of celebrations. With all the health measures for the current age, hopefully this is the beginning of a comeback formal to celebrate the launch of the industry’s biggest games.
