Several calls alerted the police of an excess of capacity inside this premises
The Local Police of Seville has instructed in the early hours of this Sunday proceedings before the judicial authority against a 42-year-old man, as a defendant not detained, as responsible for the party that had to be this past Saturday night evicted and sealed , and where at least thirteen minors required health care and in some cases their transfer to hospitals in the capital.
This was reported this Sunday by the Seville City Council in a statement detailing that, for several weeks, the Local Police has been tracking social networks to locate calls for Halloween parties to be held this weekend.
One of the numerous calls detected on social networks announced a concert at a party, aimed at children between 14 and 17 years of age, in a room of the Carretera Amarilla Industrial Park.
About 8:30 p.m. this Saturday, calls were received at 092 denouncing the saturation of people inside this premises, hence the most effective place were highlighted, according to the City Council statement.
Upon arrival, the agents verified how a 14-year-old girl was being treated by an ambulance, later being transferred to a hospital due to an anxiety crisis, dizziness, loss of verticality and numb limbs. In view of the situation and the existence of more cases, they requested more ambulances at the scene.
While some of the police officers attended to the minors who required assistance, others went to the establishment and checked how the emergency exits were blocked. Some doors were closed and there were metal fences that prevented people from leaving, as detailed by the City Council.
At the time, one of the people from the private security device denounced to the agents the “infrahuman” conditions for those attending the party that those responsible for the event had caused by running out of water bottles, not having an air conditioning system and cutting off the water in the toilets.
Faced with this situation, the agents removed the fences and released the emergency exits, allowing the attendees to go outside. After this, they entered the interior and found the different rooms “completely saturated”. They located young people fallen on the ground who were being cared for by other minors. All of them had reddened skin, fatigue, excessive sweating and dizziness, and they complained to the agents about the lack of water for their hydration.
The agents verified the sensation of lack of air and heat that the attendees were enduring, which produced nausea and exhaustion. “Like inside a sauna,” acknowledged the agents, who were able to verify how there was no water in the taps in the toilets.
A total of 13 minors -from 14 to 17 years old- were assisted ‘in situ’, and in two cases their transfer to hospital centers was necessary. Inside the establishment, the agents contacted the accused, responsible for the event, to justify the conditions inside the premises, without having answers for what was happening there and appealing to the need to do business: «Somehow I have to make money,” he told the agents.
Thus, the agents proceeded to the total eviction of the establishment and its precautionary precinct, while informing the accused of the instruction of judicial proceedings for the observed facts. To facilitate the evacuation of the public, traffic on Economy Street was cut off by the Local Police.
Regarding the affected minors, the agents contacted their parents or legal guardians to inform them of the rights they have as harmed victims of crime. The existence of more affected people who were transferred by their own means to medical centers is not ruled out, according to the City Council, which has clarified that the investigation “is still open to clarify the extremes of interest for the ongoing proceedings.”
A “GROSS IRRESPONSIBILITY”
“I want to congratulate the Seville Local Police for their prompt action and diligence in this case. It is a very serious irresponsibility to play in this way with the lives of people, and particularly minors, to do business by complying with the minimum safety standards in a hotel establishment, ”said the delegate of the Interior, Major Festivals and Area Metropolitan, Juan Carlos Cabrera.
The mayor has taken the opportunity to ask “citizens in general, and fathers and mothers in particular”, to “bear in mind the security measures when attending a party, and to report any irregularity they may detect to the Local Police, because, as in this case, life itself is at stake, ”as Juan Carlos Cabrera has warned.
