Third dose anti-Covid vaccine. The World Health Organization is calling for a moratorium at least until September, because the poorest countries struggle to have access to ampoules, even for high-risk categories such as health workers and the elderly. “We cannot and must not accept that countries that have already used most of the world’s supplies of vaccines are still using them, while the world’s most vulnerable people are left unprotected,” Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a news conference.
WHO aims to bring vaccination coverage to 10% of the population in each country within two months. The group of countries that are already planning the administration of a ‘booster’ is small but is growing, and includes some of the richest and most populous European countries.
