A third corona vaccination should soon be possible for all interested parties, at least if Jens Spahn (CDU) has his way. Experts are divided.
Berlin – If Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has its way, all citizens should have a third in the near future corona* Vaccination are offered. He told the editorial network Germany (RND) that the countries will gradually start the first booster vaccinations, also known as “booster”, for people at particular risk and in care facilities.
In addition, anyone who has only received one of the vector vaccines, such as the Astrazeneca vaccine, could be vaccinated again against the virus. “In a second step, we can then think about offering everyone else a booster,” Spahn continued.
Jens Spahn is planning a third corona vaccination – Drosten believes that many people need refreshments for the time being
In his own words, Jens Spahn would like to rely primarily on doctors’ practices to implement his plans. Many vaccination centers went into “stand-by mode”, according to the CDU politician, “but the medical practices are still there.” They alone would manage up to five million vaccinations per week. Sufficient vaccine is available for this, a booster vaccination is “covered by the approvals”, and it “strengthens and extends” the vaccination protection, according to the Federal Minister of Health. Data from Israel also show that the third corona vaccination is effective* and is compatible.
Spahn also commented on the demand of the World Health Organization (WHO) to supply poorer countries with vaccine before a third Covid-19 vaccination: “My goal is both: to guarantee booster vaccinations and to donate vaccine to poorer countries.” The latter is already the case , since, according to Spahn, all outstanding Astrazeneca deliveries went directly to the international vaccine initiative Covax.

virologist Christian Drosten believes that a booster vaccination in autumn is not necessary* – Elderly and risk patients excluded. For the rest of the population, an age level may be defined at some point, from which a third vaccination would make sense. The virologist from the Berlin Charité explained this to the German Press Agency. SPD politician Karl Lauterbach wishes for the corona vaccination* on the other hand, “that not only risk groups receive a third vaccination dose.” (Nail Akkoyun) * hna.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
