There is less and less to the first anniversary of the death of Diego Armando Maradona and football misses him more every day. His legend will have no expiration date and the love of his fans will endure in time.
Thierry Henry, one of the great strikers of the 21st century, recounted the memories he has about the Argentine. “The first memory I have of Diego was in Mexico. I don’t usually say that you can win a tournament alone, but Maradona did it in that World Cupor. I like to remind Maradona of the goals, the emotion, the tears of happiness. You could tell when he was happy and when he wasn’t. I prefer to stay with his version of football, “he declared in dialogue with Todo Pasa.
“What Maradona represented was the people on the street because those people saw themselves reflected in him. Once I saw a homeless man who said he was there to see Maradona’s box because it was the only thing he had. That’s when I realized that it passes over football. People felt it as their own and that’s why I have so much respect for him ”. He added about what the 10 represented.
Finally, he recalled an anecdote of the day that he shared with Maradona. “He asked us for a picture with me and Robert (Pires). That should not happen, it should be the other way around. We have to ask for the photo ”, he commented.
