Juarez City.– “Buzzing cancer” is a fundraising event organized by the Onamican, AC association, with the purpose of continuing to support the treatments of patients suffering from this disease.
The event will take place on October 4, at the Parque Central Oriente facilities, at 6:00 in the afternoon.
This activity with a cause also has the objective of getting people physically active, said Socorro Álvarez Morales, director of Onamican.
“The objective is purely for health, it is to activate ourselves, after the pandemic we are overweight and stressed, we want to lower those levels, and do something healthy like exercise,” he commented.
The Zumba activation will last 40 minutes, and around 50 instructors will participate, who also invited their students, he said.
The event is open to the public and is for all ages. The activity is to raise funds to support cancer treatments.
Last year there were 400 people, and for this year the goal is for 500 attendees to attend, said the director.
“We do it at the beginning of the month, because throughout the period we give awareness and sensitization talks for timely detection.”
From October 2023 to September of this year, the association provided service to 371 patients, and to date it has 120 in remission.
The association works on cancer talks in different companies and schools. So far this year, talks have been given to more than 500 people, the interviewee mentioned.
Currently, the association is working on a project in conjunction with Fondo Unidos de Chihuahua.
The cost of the kit is 350 pesos, which includes the shirt and a thermos. The registrations have already started.
“We hope that all the people of Juárez join this event to continue the work of Onamican.”
At the event there will be information modules, gifts from sponsors, as well as raffles. In addition, there will be a nutrition unit, with free consultations from Gazpro, Álvarez Morales mentioned.
To register, those interested can call (656) 527-6803. (Veronica Dominguez)
