Estrella Palacios, Mayor-elect of Mazatlán, was stripped of her truck this Monday afternoon while she was traveling along the Culiacán-Mazatlán Highway in Sinaloa, according to preliminary security reports.
It was reported that the Mayor of Morena-PVEM was intercepted by armed individuals near the town of Quilá, in Culiacán, before reaching the Costa Rica toll booth.
The armed group did not injure the elected mayor or her work group, who were recorded by motorists at the foot of the road after the theft of the Tahoe truck, according to the Río Doce media.
Hours before, Estrella Palacio Domínguez had issued a message from that white truck, model 2021, through her social networks.
“I want to wish you an excellent week, tell you that we continue working with great enthusiasm to start our government,” he said.
The former Mazatlán Carnival Queen and former state Secretary of Tourism is expected to take office as Mayor of Mazatlán on November 1.
This same morning, it was reported that the Mayor of San Ignacio, Octavio Bastidas, was also assaulted in that area, and his white Silverado truck was also stolen.
These events are added to the more than 140 deaths in the entity, five of them this Monday, as well as the multiple disappearances and also shootings that have been recorded since September 9 due to the struggle between the group of “Los Chapitos” against those close to Ismael Zambada, “El Mayo”, arrested last July.
