The specimen was found a mile and a half from the coast, between the Hormigas Islands and the Cabo de Palos lighthouse.
With some delay compared to the usual sightings at the beginning of summer, a whale was seen this Thursday in the waters of Cartagena. “They are here, like every year,” commented the tweeter Jorge Torres, who documented the presence of the cetacean in a video that he shared on the little bird’s social network.
Specifically, this neighbor explained that he spotted the specimen a mile and a half from the coast, in the marine reserve between Islas Hormigas and the Cabo de Palos lighthouse. Although the images do not allow us to clearly appreciate the marine animal, it seems to be a pilot whale or pilot whale, a species related to dolphins that can be seen with some frequency on the Cartagena coast.
