It seems like a joke, but in 2024 there are still computers that operate with Windows XP. For various reasons, whether administrative, personal preferences, entertainment or other reasons, a considerable number of people continue to use the operating system from two decades ago. Even version 10 is going through its final stages so that users are forced to switch to the new version 11.
With this in mind, the youtuber Eric Parker decided to conduct an interesting experiment: how long can the PC survive with Windows Xp before being hacked? To do this, Parker configured a computer with this system without any additional protection and left it running without supervision to see how long it took to be compromised and the response came sooner than expected: less than 10 minutes.
In the mini documentary video, it is shown how, in less than fifteen minutes, the computer had already been infected. The Task Manager revealed the presence of the conhoz.exe Trojan. Then a new user was created, several suspicious processes appeared, and an FTP server was installed. It was discovered that the attack came from Russia and that leaves us with less than an hour, the PC was completely open, with four Trojans, two backdoors and many malicious applications.
So for those who still use Windows Xp, it is crucial to consider an upgrade to a more modern operating system that receives support and security updates. Although upgrading software and hardware may seem expensive initially, the risks associated with using outdated systems can result in much higher costs, both in terms of security and data integrity.

Author’s note: It is necessary to update yes or yes for certain tasks that must be fulfilled. But many have also been left with old systems because some games do not have current versions, so it is up to debate whether the move is correct.
