Mexico City.- Various blockades, robberies and the appearance of narcomantas were reported in Sinaloa during the early hours of this Friday, state authorities reported.
The notices to the authorities report at least three blockages on Avenida Lola Beltrán, Aquiles Serdán and at kilometer 113 of the highway, in Culiacán.
The criminals stripped several citizens of their vehicles in these sectors, which caused fear among motorists. The blockades caused the suspension of some public transport routes.
In addition, in different parts of Culiacán, robberies of businesses and acts of vandalism were reported, for example, at bank branches, where a subject used a backhoe to extract an ATM in the Colonia Valle Alto.
Two businesses, one for compact vehicles, another for motorcycles and one for cell phones, were also vandalized. A faction of the Sinaloa Cartel left various narcomantas in Mocorito, Guamúchil and Angostura. According to local sources, the messages were signed by “El Perris”, identified as José Humberto Figueroa Benítez, designated as head of security for the “Los Chapitos” faction, also in charge of trafficking fentanyl for the Sinaloa Cartel from Mexico to United States, both in pills and powder, according to the indictment against him in the District of New York. It was indicated that in the narcomantas the subject separates his group from criminal activities such as rent collection, extortion and robberies in commercial establishments, reported in the midst of the security crisis. “El Perris” assured in those blankets “that he will not allow that type of abuse.” “Los Chapitos” maintain a struggle with the “Los Mayos” faction, generated by the alleged betrayal and surrender of Ismael Zambada García to the US authorities on July 25. Meanwhile, yesterday’s violent day in Sinaloa left five people murdered, reported the Daily Security Report. The reinforcement of the military in different areas of Culiacán did not stop the intentional homicides, including that of a patient who had been shot and was convalescing in the General Hospital of the state capital. At least one armed individual entered one of the hospital’s recovery rooms and shot at them. The authorities, according to preliminary reports, found about six shell casings at the scene. After the visit of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, to Culiacán, one hundred more elements of the Special Forces of the Mexican Army arrived to reinforce surveillance in that city hit by the violence unleashed by drug trafficking cartels. The Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) of the entity reported that this reinforcement of troops from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) arrived yesterday morning from Mexico City. Although the fights between the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, “Los Mayos” and “Los Chapitos”, have triggered violence in various municipalities of the State, the majority of scuffles have arisen in Culiacán, a stronghold of both factions.
