Ciudad Juárez.- Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar led the Illustrious Teacher ceremony, an event organized by Section 42 of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE), paying posthumous tribute to Professor Carlos Casas Flores.
This morning the municipal president emphasized the importance of highlighting the legacy and recognizing the efforts of the teachers of this city, who have worked for the benefit of the community.
“Honoring a teacher who gave his life to public education is something that seems fair to me and is a way to honor teachers; “It is a very relevant event both in October with section 92 and in May with section eight,” the mayor reported.
During the ceremony, a wreath was laid and a plaque was unveiled at the Monument to the Teacher, located at the intersection of Plutarco Elías Calles and Heroico Colegio Militar.
In turn, he thanked the work of Maestro Casas, who maintained an active participation even after his retirement; His legacy motivates us to continue supporting public education, he added.
This ceremony was held in commemoration of the International Physical Education Teacher’s Day, celebrated on October 8, whose purpose is to recognize the career of Juárez teachers who have made significant contributions to teaching.
Diana Casas Pacheco, daughter of the honored professor, expressed that her father dedicated his entire life to education, being a teacher of artistic, physical and dance education, and that he trained constantly throughout his career.
The general secretary of Section 42 of the SNTE, Manuel Quiroz Carbajal, highlighted the collaboration that is carried out with the Municipal Government in the development of this ceremony, as well as the support that the mayor provides to teaching in Juárez.
The ceremony was attended by the director of Municipal Education, Guillermo Alvídrez; Councilor Jorge Marcial Bueno; Eduardo Del Val, coordinator of Section 42 of the SNTE; Maurilio Fuentes, Undersecretary of Education in the Northern Zone, and Pedro Hidalgo, coordinator of Section 8 of the SNTE.
