Ciudad Juárez.- The trust that María Julia Delfin Hernández placed in her employees at the grocery store she owned awakened in one of them the greed that would lead to an assault that ended the life of the 58-year-old woman. Her case was classified as feminicide by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Women Victims of Crime for Reasons of Gender and Family (FEM), and two people have already been detained and linked to the process. In the first instance, José Antonio CP, 19 years old, was detained on October 1 for an arrest warrant and was presented for an initial hearing on the 2nd, in a session in which an accusation was formulated, a precautionary measure of preventive detention was established and linked to trial, without the accused using the time that the Constitution allows him to gather evidence for his defense. On October 3, his sister Alicia Sarahí PO, 27, was arrested, also by court order. She is the one who, according to the information provided during the initial hearing, was employed by María Julia in her establishment months ago and who listened attentively to the children of her future victim, one of whom put her savings in custody before dying. to take care of her children (Maria Julia’s grandchildren), and the other who sent her remittances from the United States. The murder occurred on September 26 at the intersection of Tiberina and Jardín de las Naranjas streets. Presumably, PO entered accompanied by her brother and they relentlessly beat the victim. María Julia’s cause of death was determined as craniocerebral trauma resulting from a blunt instrument to the skull, that is, her head was smashed. After the violent act, PO, knowing the victim’s house and business, supposedly went to two hideouts to collect the money from María Julia’s deceased son and the money corresponding to the remittances, in addition to the profits from the barreal store. In total, 850 thousand pesos were stolen. They fled to the same subdivision in the first instance. There, the mother of both defendants divided the money between them and a fourth, Alicia Sarahí’s boyfriend. The distribution was unequal, according to the information, since María Julia’s former employee received just over 40 thousand pesos and her brother, barely 3 thousand. José Antonio CP was arrested while trying to flee to the interior of the state of Chihuahua, and Alicia Sarahí PO in the city of Delicias, also after fleeing. Their arrests have not yet been made known regarding the latter’s mother and boyfriend. The connection to the process was, finally, for qualified robbery and aggravated femicide, the latter due to the gender-based relationship of employment and trust that existed between PO and the victim, in addition to the request to include the aggravating factors for having acted in a group. against an adult person, and, again, for the relationship. Both defendants were sent to justified preventive detention in the Women’s Social Reintegration Center number 2 and Men’s Social Reintegration Center number 3, respectively, in Ciudad Juárez. In four months, the Public Prosecutor’s Office must make known its evidentiary discoveries or progress in the complementary investigation, after the setting of this deadline by the Control Judge who linked the process.
