The victim died at the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital.
The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify an alleged robbery of an 80-year-old man who, after stealing his belongings, was dragged down the road with the vehicle running. That is the main hypothesis with which the Benemérita Judicial Police agents who are investigating a crime of robbery with violence are working. The events occurred this Sunday morning on La Isla, next to Bar la Ermita, in the municipality of Mazarrón. The man died this Monday in La Arrixaca.
Although at first the 112 Emergency Coordination Center of the Region received several calls around 10:30 a.m., reporting what appeared to be a pedestrian hit and a subsequent escape from the car, the investigations carried out so far indicate that the occupants of the car, they apparently saw the victim and stopped the vehicle next to him.
Through deception, they robbed him and when they fled, the man was hooked to the car and was dragged a few meters, indicate sources of the investigation, who rule out that he got into the car and was thrown from the inside onto the road.
The victim suffered severe head trauma and signs of dragging in various areas of the body. Some witnesses told the local police officers, who arrived at the scene at first, that they had seen a dispute between the octogenarian and the people who were traveling in the car, sources close to the case indicate. A Red Cross ambulance transferred him to a Mobile Emergency Unit (UME) which, after being treated by his doctors, was transferred to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital, where he later died. The Civil Guard is following in the footsteps of the alleged perpetrators of the attack, who fled after leaving the badly injured man on the road.
