The General Directorate of the Environment of the Community will review a broken pipe after a complaint by MC Cartagena
The General Directorate of the Environment opened an investigation this Wednesday to try to determine the origin and chemical composition of a water discharge into the Mediterranean Sea on Galúa beach, in La Manga. It did so as a result of a complaint by the municipal group MC in the Cartagena City Council, which publicly warned of the existence of a broken pipe between some rocks and asked to clarify whether it is a source of marine pollution.
In a video posted on Twitter, the councilor and deputy spokesperson for MC, Jesús Giménez Gallo, echoed the complaint of some neighbors about the fact that the stream of water has been flowing into the sea throughout the summer near the Bohemian Square.
The discharge point is located just below the Hotel Galúa and the councilor drew attention to the fact that the color of the rocks in the area where the water reaches is different from the one around it. For this reason, he requested that the regional and municipal authorities investigate it.
Sources from the Ministry of the Environment told LA VERDAD that a technician will travel to the area this Wednesday to take samples and carry out the corresponding laboratory analysis.
Apparently, the sources consulted indicated, it is not wastewater. In any case, they pointed out that they must be correctly channeled to the public sewage network.
