The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, yesterday denounced “the increase in acts of vandalism that are taking place in our parks and gardens” and asked for citizen collaboration, since “these actions generate monthly expenses of between 6,000 and 8,000 euros.” At the end of the meeting of the Local Security Board, held at the Town Hall, Luengo announced that there will be a reinforcement of surveillance and security in these areas, although he admitted that “we cannot have a police officer in each of the eighty parks that there are in the municipality.
To deal with this situation, the mayor assured that “a modification of the municipal ordinance of Parks and Gardens has been proposed, with the aim of regulating the hours of use, as a measure to fight against undesirable activities and also guarantee the rest of the neighbors.
The first mayor advanced that, shortly, San Javier will have the first seven security cameras in public spaces, to which it is planned that others will be added in 20 more areas “to increase security and dissuade those who do not have other entertainment than destroy street furniture or create intolerable disturbances.
police reinforcement
The Consistory has already asked the Government Delegation for greater police reinforcement, especially during the summer season. The idea of the government team, in addition, is to “request statistical information regarding the actions carried out by the Security Forces and Bodies in the municipality from January to May 2022.” At the end of the meeting, the popular councilor highlighted “the collaboration between the agents of the Civil Guard and the Local Police when planning the device of both security forces for the summer campaign.”
