A group of neighbors found the newborn lifeless in the place known as ‘Aunt Petra’s Cave’
Around half past seven in the afternoon this Friday, a family of Eagles made the macabre discovery in a vacant lot located in the vicinity of the old Renfe workshops. On their walk through the area known as ‘Aunt Petra’s Cave’, they came across a small mound of earth and stone. Digging through it, they found the abandoned corpse of a newborn, still wrapped in his placenta, and put in a container.
The neighbors immediately alerted the Local Police, who also sent the notice to the Civil Guard. And members of both bodies appeared in the area, near the train and bus station, where the lifeless body of the newborn was found, which apparently did not show obvious signs of violence.

The Civil Guard of Águilas has taken charge of the investigation and no hypothesis is ruled out. At the moment, they are waiting for the autopsy to be carried out on the newborn to find out if the baby could have been born dead or died after birth, as well as if the death was due to natural causes. According to sources close to the case, the baby’s birth occurred a few hours before its discovery, since the body was in perfect condition; the autopsy will determine the causes of his death. The Civil Guard has initiated the investigations to try to identify the mother of the baby and determine her responsibility in the possible criminal acts.
The place where the dead newborn was found is a large open space near the urban center and surrounded by several housing developments, which the residents of the area usually take advantage of to practice sports and to take their pets for a walk.
