Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a title full of mysteries, whether the developers planned it that way or not. One of the unexplained details that has always surprised players over the years is planes that inexplicably fall from the sky. Well, one of the developers of this acclaimed installment has finally explained this event.
Through his official Twitter account, Obbe Vermeij, former Rockstar developer, who worked on the game's plans GTA: San Andreasrevealed that the reason why planes are constantly falling is due to a problem with the game code, since the necessary code is somewhat complex. This is what he said about it:
“In GTA San Andreas, small planes are periodically created near the player to perform a flyover.
Sometimes they collide.
Before creating the plane, my code looks for obstacles in its path.
Scans a series of lines in the direction of travel of the plane. These scans are slow, so I used the absolute minimum. (I think just the body and wing tips) That's why thin obstacles are sometimes not detected.
Additionally, planes sometimes lost some altitude, just after being created, because their initial speed may not have generated enough lift.
There was an additional problem when the map models had not yet been transmitted. Its collision would be loaded after the plane had already been created.
These problems would occasionally allow aircraft to be created on a doomed flight path.
“I was aware of the crashes and briefly considered eliminating flyovers altogether.”

Thus, one of the greatest mysteries of GTA: San Andreas finally has an answer. It may not be the conspiracy-filled supernatural explanation that many have created over the years, but it gives us a look at the development process of this title. On related topics, it seems that the delay of GTA 6 It's an exaggeration. Likewise, this new title would not run at 60fps on PS5 Pro.
Editor's Note:
It's very interesting to see how these games take shape. Although one might think that the development of a game progresses in a way where these types of errors are impossible, it is clear that not everything is perfect, and that is not always a negative aspect.
