Mexico.- A federal judge denied a request for amparo to Genaro García Luna, with which Felipe Calderón’s former Secretary of Security sought to recover their bank accounts blocked by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Through a statement, the FIU announced that the Tenth District Court of Mexico City denied the protection requested by Genaro García Luna against his inclusion in the Blocked People List dependency, where it has been since 2019.
The authorities detailed that the FIU verified before the judge Roberto Fraga Jimenez that the blocking of accounts of the former Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) were carried out in compliance with the obligation of the Mexican State to take rapid measures and “identify and freeze assets related to the money laundering“.
