Chihuahua.- The relatives of siblings Lizbeth and Edgar Molina Reyes, as well as Alberto Martínez Ortega, murdered on July 28 in the parking lot of a shopping mall located on the De la Juventud ring road, called for justice so that this crime does not go unpunished.
In a telephone interview with this media outlet, Alberto’s father said that what they want is “justice for these innocent victims who did not deserve this and who unfortunately had to go through a bad time.”
“He was a good boy, I wish you could have seen the funeral home… it was packed with people, as was the church and the cemetery, that’s because he was a very dear person and loved by many people, not just us.”
Lizbeth and Edgar’s father also said that both were good young people who only dedicated themselves to studying and working and that they had no problems with anyone, “we want justice to be done and yes, we ask for it, but so does the public, it is not possible for these things to happen; imagine, losing a child is sad, but… losing both?” he lamented.
The arraignment hearing will take place today for Kevin MS, 23 years old; César Manuel CO, 19, and Irving Avisai RV, who were identified as the alleged perpetrators of the assault at the aforementioned site.
At the formulation hearing, the Public Ministry said that at least 28 security cameras of the Chihuahua Shield Platform (Pecuu) and another private one managed to capture Kevin MS, César Manuel CO and Irving Avisai RV, as those responsible for the attack in which three young people (two men and one woman) were killed.
In addition, a series of evidence and testimonies were presented proving that the three suspects had been at the scene of the crime.
According to the evidence, on July 28, one of the cameras located on Independencia Avenue and Tamborel detected the circulation of a closed 1998 model van, with license plates ENN384P.
Another report recorded that at 1:24 in the morning, the same unit was traveling along Independencia Avenue and Méndez Street, towards Teófilo Borunda.
At least 26 other video recordings show the entire journey of this van, which reached the De la Juventud ring road and met up with another black Ibiza hatchback car, right on Calle Fuente Trevi.
According to the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a private camera in a private home showed when a man wearing a salmon-colored shirt and dark pants boarded the vehicle. It also showed another person wearing jeans and a black shirt on board the same car.
The alleged perpetrators then carried out the attack against three people in a matter of seconds, who were travelling in different vehicles.
The victims, who were in the black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with license plate DT1952B, were siblings Edgar MR, 26, and Lizbeth MR, 19, who lost their lives after receiving several bullet impacts.
In the case of the man, he was driving and was wounded in the neck and head; while the woman, who was travelling in the back seat, received bullet impacts in the neck and left forearm.
Alfredo GR was riding in the passenger seat and Karen Alejandra SF was also riding in the back seat. They were both injured; due to the bullet impacts Edgar received, he ended up crashing into a wall at the Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant.
That same day, two young men were attacked with firearms when they were boarding a white 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck; there, Iván Alberto MO, 24, died after being shot in the chest and abdomen, and although he was treated by paramedics, he died minutes later. Karen Sofía MB was traveling with him, but she survived.
After the attack, other cameras located in different parts of the city captured the alleged attackers abandoning the Ibiza car on Calle Fuente Trevi and boarding the aforementioned white 1998 model van.
This would have taken several routes after the discovery, first passing through the De la Juventud and Teófilo Borunda ring roads; later through Nardos and 28th streets, then through Independencia Avenue, in addition to 25th Street.
Minutes later they took the Lombardo Toledano ring road, then the Aldama highway towards Romanza and later they went through Fuerza Aérea Avenue, continued along Palestina, Juan Pablo II Avenue, Eqqus Avenue, Punta Las Ánimas, Punta Ciénega, Parques Central and Parques de Oriente streets, ending at Puerta Savona at 2:20 in the morning, the same place where they were arrested two days later.
According to the statements made at the hearing in case 2936/2024, Alberto MO went to dinner at “Juana Gallo” that night with Karen Sofía MB, whom he had met at the gym; they both arrived at eleven at night and were riding in a white double-cab pickup truck. That night, they had dinner and later left.
At around 1:30 a.m., Alberto opened the door for Karen Sofía, who was sitting as co-pilot, grabbed some dried meat, and when he turned around he saw that next to his companion was a young man of whom he only remembers that he was wearing a light-colored shirt and that he started shooting at them.
Alberto closed the door and she stayed in her seat without getting up. When she got out of the truck she saw that Alberto was injured, so they called an ambulance, but after that she didn’t know anything.
In the case of the other victims, Lizbeth had arrived with other friends at “La Barra Tradicional”, where they had been enjoying the night and later her brother Edgar and his friend Jesús arrived.
Upon leaving, they accompanied one of the victim’s friends to her car and when they were preparing to leave they were attacked.
In both cases, the people who “fought” the attack said that they did not notice anything strange, that they had not had contact with other people and that they had not ingested any other type of substance besides alcohol, much less had they had any type of mishap.
Last Friday, August 2, two of the detainees were given preventive detention for carrying weapons and drug possession; while Irving was released and ordered to sign in periodically; however, at the end of the hearing, an arrest warrant was issued for all of them for the crimes of attempted murder and aggravated homicide.
According to the narrative of this other investigation folder, Kevin MS was found to be carrying a black firearm with serial number 58A049428, a metal magazine and six 9-millimeter cartridges, as well as 104.48 grams of marijuana.
In the case of César Manuel, a green and black firearm was seized, with the legend “Tauros”, with serial number AEB0361, a magazine, eight 9 mm cartridges and 103.42 grams of marijuana.
Irving was only carrying 107.37 grams of marijuana. These individuals were arrested on the afternoon of July 30 on Puerta Machio Street, in the Puerta Savona neighborhood, in possession of a white 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, two 9 mm firearms and drugs.
