Agents of the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Alguazas are looking for a man, about 35 years old and of Moroccan nationality, for setting fire to a woman during an argument. The attack took place around 5:00 p.m. on Monday on Ruperto Chapí Street. Apparently, the man went to a floor of a building, known in the municipality for the retail sale of narcotic substances, and there he met the woman, also of Moroccan nationality and 47 years old.
Both the aggressor and the victim knew each other and, for reasons that have not been disclosed, they initiated a verbal dispute, sources familiar with the case indicate. At one point in the discussion, the man assaulted the woman, and subsequently doused her with a flammable liquid. Later, according to sources, he set fire to it with a lighter.
As a result of this attack, the victim, a homeless person, was transferred to the Burn Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia by an ambulance from 061. According to sources from the Emergency Coordination Center, the victim suffered burns to the abdomen.
The suspect, who is not known to have had any kind of romantic relationship with the woman, fled the scene after the attack. Both the Civil Guard and the Local Police established a search device for the alleged perpetrator of the attempted murder, who has a long criminal record and a history of robbery. Until Tuesday night there is no confirmation of his arrest.
