His mother, Verónica Salazar, received information that her son had remained in the Arizona desert. So far the searches have been in vain.
“They told me that unfortunately my son could no longer walk and that they had left him in the desert,” Verónica Salazar told the Univision news network. The last thing that was known about the young man is from an audio sent to his mother on September 23.
“It is exasperating not knowing about one’s son, because he is my only son. And it is all the American dream that I wanted for him, that he be here. Because I haven’t seen him for more than 15 years, I don’t even know him well. And in that attempt to get him to come, I don’t know where he is anymore,” says the mother.
Veronica was sent three possible coordinates of her son’s location, but none of them have served to locate him. The Migrant Search and Rescue Group “Parallel 31” in Arizona also received the information.

“The unusual thing is that they send me three locations. He is not in any of those three locations. The Border Patrol does not have any report of having found a person in that area on all those days,” admits Veronica.
The mother, who lives in Georgia, does not trust the version that her son disappeared at the border, saying that he was prepared for the crossing.
The television of that country spoke with Luis Enrique López, leader of “Paralelo 31”, about what is known about the disappearance and searches for Juan.
“On Friday I went to the last coordinate that his mother sent me…When I got there, it turned out that it was Cabeza Prieta, a national park. One cannot ride a motorcycle on the land,” explained López, who added that due to the difficulty of the area, he could not go through all the coordinates.
The “Parallel 31” group organized a new search for Juan for this Saturday in the missing coordinates and in the area to try to find the Hispanic.
