Dragon Ball is an anime and manga that has been characterized by its extensive catalog of transformations of all kinds. Although the enemies have been characterized by having various improvements throughout their fights against the Z Warriors, it is Goku, Vegeta and company who show that there is always room for a new power. Thus, here we present the best transformations that Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro have given us over the years.
Ozaru
The Ōzaru, or Gigantic Ape, was the first big transformation Dragon Ball showed us, with Goku turning into the monster when he sees the moonlight. This was eventually replicated in Dragon Ball Z, with Vegeta using this power, and in Dragon Ball GTwhere we saw a gold variant.
Kaio Ken
To face the danger that Vegeta represented at the time, Goku entered with Kaiosama to obtain two powers that would be useful in this confrontation. One of these was the Kaio-Ken, with which Kakaroto is able to constantly increase his strength and speed with the red aura.
super namekian
During his fight against Frieza, Piccolo had the opportunity to travel to his home planet, where he obtained this transformation by merging with other great warriors from his world. The interesting thing is that this increase in strength is permanent.
Frieza’s final transformation
After a long confrontation against Piccolo, Vegeta and Goku against Frieza, the evil villain reached the maximum power. However, if this were not enough, Dragon Ball Z: Frieza’s Resurrectionthe tyrant reached a new transformation, which gave him golden skin.
Super Saiyan
Without a doubt, the most iconic transformation in all of Dragon Ball. After witnessing Krillin’s death for the second time, Goku managed to achieve a new power, which has been replicated in Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan and more.
perfect cell
Like Frieza, Cell had several transformations during his fight against Goku and company. However, it is the perfect version of him, the one obtained by ingesting Androids 17 and 18, that poses the greatest danger to Earth.
Super Saiyan 2
In order to face the danger that Perfect Cell represents, Gohan and company had to obtain the power of Super Saiyan 2. Although visually there is not much difference, the power and all the attributes of its user are significantly increased.
great saiyan man
More than a power-up or transformation as such, the Great Saijaman is the alter ego that Gohan took on to fight crime while going to college, and it’s something that needs to return to the world of Dragon Ball.
Ultimate Gohan
During the Majin Buu saga, Gohan had to put aside the power of the Saiyans to make use of a transformation that required training by the Supreme Kai, and in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero we see the return of this power.
Super Saiyan 3
While Gohan used his own power, Goku and Gotenks gave us our first look at Super Saiyan 3. Although this transformation only works for a limited time, the increased power, and hair, is enough to go toe-to-toe with Majin Buu.
Super Boo
Like other villains, Buu also had an upgraded version. Although Kid Buu was the definitive version, it was the transformation that he obtained after he stopped being fat, which almost ended the existence of humanity.
super sajajin God
After years without a Dragon Ball anime, Akira Toriyama gave us Dragon Ball: Battle of Godswhere Goku obtained a new version of Super Saiyan with the help of his friends and family, and all to face Beerus.
Super Saiyan Blue
In order to combat Frieza’s power in his golden form, Goku and Vegeta had to push the limits of Super Saiyan God, which resulted in blue colored hair, and aura of the same color. Vegeta eventually managed to enhance this power during the Tournament of Power.
super saiyan rose
When Dragon Ball Super first started airing, everyone was eagerly waiting to see what new powers we would get. One of the first to show up was Super Saiyan Rose, a combination of normal form and God evolution. However, the interesting thing is that it is an exclusive power of Goku Black, one of the new villains of the anime.
Ultra Instinct.
On Goku’s part, Ultra Instinct signifies the limit of his power, at least so far. Here we see the Saiyan move and fight automatically. Although in the manga this transformation has constantly evolved, his first appearance in the Tournament of Power is the most remembered iteration of him.
Legendary Super Saiyan
Once again, here we see a power that is not available in the repertoire of Goku and Vegeta. Instead, this transformation corresponds to Broly, who showed us that anger in its purest form is enough to destroy anyone who stands in front of one.
ultra-ego
Introduced in the most current manga arc of Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta’s Ultra Ego is the counterpart to Goku’s Ultra Instinct. Here, the user gets stronger the more damage they take, though there is a limit to this.
Super Saiyan 4
Although Dragon Ball GT is not canon, the iconic power of this anime is remembered by fans, and many hope that it will eventually be an official power within the reach of Goku and Company. Here, some of the characteristics of the Saiyans, such as the long tail, are a fundamental part of the design.
