The joy, color, light and beauty of the Murcian spring will fill 32 public spaces in the city with color during the Spring Festival, which opens this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. and can be visited until April 7. Four years later, the City Council has recovered the 'Spring Gardens', which can be visited through itineraries.
The mayor, José Ballesta, visited the assembly of one of these decorations this Wednesday, and pointed out that the 'Spring Gardens' return “not only for the enjoyment of all Murcians, but also for the thousands of visitors we hope to receive during these parties”.
The 32 locations where the Spring Gardens will be will be Plaza Circular, Plaza Romea, Avenida de la Libertad, Plaza de Santo Domingo, Jardín de la Seda, Plaza de Santa Isabel, Jardín del Salitre, Plaza de La Opinión, San Esteban, Malecón, Sobejano Painter, Floridablanca Garden, Ferrer Garden, Plaza de la Cruz, Glorieta de España, Plaza de la Universidad, Plaza Camachos, Plaza de Europa, Plaza de San Agustín, Moneo Building, Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, Iron Bridge, Cuartel de Artillery, Esteve Mora, Platería y Trapería, Verónicas Wall, El Rollo roundabout, Puerta Nueva, Alfonso X El Sabio, Avenida de la Constitución, Gran Vía and Plaza de la Fuensanta.

Circular Square
There will be installed 10 huts, three large figures of orchards, three pergolas, four butterflies, a well, a jug, a esparteña, a spinning top, silk cocoons, worms, a Moorish oven and a jam jar. La Redonda will have a children's workshop area, where the activities of the 'Spring with Family' program will take place. In addition, this Garden can be visited at night, thanks to 200 light projectors that have been installed.
Glorieta of Spain
La Glorieta, where the Town Hall is located, is going to become a baroque garden, forming part of Murcia Barroca, one of Mayor Ballesta's strategic projects.
Those in charge of decorating this central space are winking at this type of baroque floral ornamentation, where the complexity of the shapes, curved lines and intense expressiveness in terms of color and personality in the chosen flowers predominate.
Likewise, a floral tribute has been made in one of the flower beds to the old coat of arms of Murcia, granted by King Alfonso X The Wise 758 years ago. Likewise, the facades of the Town Hall and the Moneo Building will have a special decoration.
San Agustín Square
In the Plaza de San Agustín, next to the Salzillo Museum, a garden will be installed with large-format elements, in the shape of vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, eggplants…). To do this, the iron trees that were installed in this area have been moved to Plaza Romea.
Europe Square
The Plaza de Europa a ferris wheel, a characteristic element of the Huerta de Murcia, surrounded by a large floral decoration.
New Door
This Spring Garden will be dedicated to the major irrigation ditches, the Alquibla and Aljufía, which water the ancient Huerta de Murcia, with six sculptures and a large floral decoration.
Floridablanca Garden
There will be special decoration on the monument to the Count of Floridablanca, as well as the lighting of large trees, such as ficus.
Plaza de Castilla
At this northern entrance to the city, visitors will be welcomed with the letters 'Murcia in Spring'.
Sobejano Painter
In the medians of another of the main entrances to the city by Pintor Sobejano, large floral waves have been installed.
Cross Square
A giant bouquet of flowers will be installed, which will be made up of thousands of flowers of the kalanchoes variety of different colors such as pink, fuchsia, yellow and white.
Veronicas Wall
9 sculptures by artist Emilio Pascual will be installed, which will be transferred from his studio in Yecla. They will remain on display until June 15, 2024.
City of Almeria
In the roundabout of the City of Almería, in El Rollo, the sculptural group 'Pórtico de la Primavera' has been installed, the work of the prestigious Madrid artist José Samblás 'Somo'.
These great monuments will also have a great explosion of color thanks to the large number of floral decorations that will be installed. Specifically, in the different 'Spring Gardens' more than 200,000 flowers have been planted, such as carnations, begonias, daisies, sunflowers, kalanchoes, rosemary, lavender, dimorphothecas, geraniums, ivy, jasmine, myrtle, petunia, alysum, tagetes, white and colored calla lilies, and grasses, among others.
Likewise, the 'Spring Gardens' will pay tribute to the Orchard of Murcia, with orange and lemon trees, as well as sculptures that will represent the characteristic vegetables of the land's crops and other elements typical of our municipality, such as the orchard huts. , the jugs, the esparteñas, the city's coat of arms, the butterflies, the silk cocoons, the ferris wheel and the Virgin of Fuensanta.
More than 200 workers and volunteers are putting the finishing touches on these floral monuments these days, which will be completely finished on Easter Sunday, when they will be inaugurated coinciding with the official opening of the barracks.
Likewise, five large floral arches will be installed in the Plaza de Santa Isabel, Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza de la Aurora, the Malecón and San Juan.

Our climate allows us to enjoy them all year round, but especially in spring, the municipality is reborn, and they become protagonists.
