The Royal House is going to make more electric kilometers. Two new plug-in hybrids have been ordered to drive the king’s wife and mother around. Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix’s new car is a hybrid Audi A8. There are no photos yet, but the two Audis will look a lot like the ones you see in the gallery above.
In the Netherlands, the Audi A8 is available in two flavors: the normal sedan and the extended version. They have the same 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that is assisted by an electric motor. The hybrid Audi A8 can also only run on the electric motor: the electric range is approximately 60 kilometers. Two copies of the longer Audi A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro have been ordered for the Royal House. Catchy name, isn’t it?
The power of the plug-in hybrid Audi A8
When the V6 and the electric motor work together, 462 hp goes through all wheels to the asphalt. It is important that passengers hold their hats well: the 0-100 time is 4.9 seconds. Anyone who often uses the total power or does not charge the battery properly will notice that a plug-in hybrid is not necessarily economical. But we assume that the court hangs the cars neatly on the pole.
Battery full? Then the top speed in electric mode is 135 km/h. In regular driving mode, the hybrid Audi A8 of Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix reaches a top speed of 250 km/h. Nice for visits to Germany.
What do the new cars of Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix cost?
The starting price of the Audi A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro is 126,775 euros in the Netherlands. With a few options, the price can quickly add up, as we saw recently with the Audi S8. We have the question of whether any special adjustments have been made for the Royal House, such as armor. The cars were probably painted in a special dark blue color, just like all other court cars.
