The respected automotive consultant Jato Dynamics has just published the data of a report that analyzes the evolution in sales of Chinese manufacturers in the European continent. The main conclusion of the work is that the brand of British origin MG, owned by the Gigante Saic Motor, is the great winner of the game held in 2024, followed – but very distance – by ByD, the first world producer of plug -in vehicles.
Of the ZS model, of MG, a total of 97,901 units have been delivered in Europe throughout last year, and the firm has placed three other vehicles, the HS, MG4 and MG3, in the Top 5 of the ranking. Together, add 243,400 enrollments, a figure that practically quintuplica to that of the following classified, byd, which marketed 50,300 units in the old continent in the same period.
This last brand has positioned three of its models among the top 12 of the classification, demonstrating that its commitment to electrification is beginning to penetrate in Europe, says Jato.
MG has indicated in a statement made public to celebrate its “overwhelming domain” of the continental scenario that the Spanish market has been one of the keys to these excellent results, by contributing 12.6% of European sales of the brand. The SAIC brand enrolled 30,770 units in our country last year, 5.93% more than in the previous year. The 20,386 registrations in Spain come to mean that one in five Mg ZS marketed in Europe were sold in our country.
Within SAIC Motor, MG sales in Europe accounted for 22.4% of the total exports of the group (1.08 million units) and contributed to the old continent representing the most important market for the manufacturer after China.
Following the classification prepared by Jato Dynamics, we find that Zeekr is noted 30,500 units sold in Europe and that DR achieves 18,600. Next, the strong irruption of omoda stands out, in fifth position of the table in its year of debut, with 14,300 deliveries and the omoda 5 as seventh Chinese model best selling in the continent.
His sister brand Jaecoo has also sneaked into the Top 10by signing 2,500 units despite having been present in the market only the last months of the year. Something happens with Xpeng, which has reaped good numbers despite not having operated the full year in many European markets.
In it ranking of models, all of the table are electric or have an electric and/or plug -in hybrid version. In addition to the mg domain, other remarkable data are the bulky sales of the Ex30 Volvo, second absolute of the classification with 79,023 units and first electric, and the EC40, ninth of the table. Jato finally highlights the good sales distribution among all byd models.
