The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezannounced today the second DANA aid package in the Valencian Community and other areas of the country. In total, there will be 3,765 million euros allocated in this new decree of 110 measurements to protect the productive fabric and the social shield of the affected areas: it is expected that the measures will help alleviate the situation of 100,000 homes, 400,000 workers and 30,000 companies.
In the absence of the official text of the decree being detailed in the Official State Gazette, the measures that will be aimed at reinforce “social shield” measures announced by the Executive last week.
Measures on housing in affected areas
- The Government extends the aid for damage to homes also to those owners who have rental homes affected by DANA.
- It will be compensated for loss of belongings also to tenants of affected homes, and coverage is extended to goods that are not essential.
- The granting of aid is expeditedimmediately advancing 50% of the amounts to all citizens who request them without having to wait for the file to be processed.
- The State temporarily expands the staff of the Government subdelegations and creates service points in all Post Offices. In addition, a r will be opened in the affected municipalitiestemporary office ed of the State.
- Temporary increase of 30% of the complement of Help for Childrenreceived by the approximately 10,000 low-income families with children who reside in the affected areas.
In terms of housing, the Government extends to those affected by DANA the points included in the Mortgage Code of Good Practices: The affected homes will be able to have 12 more months of frozen mortgages, once the 12 months already included in last week’s decree have passed.
Furthermore, the State enables 150 public housing units to be made available, free and immediately, to those affectedand will allocate 25 million euros to buy homes and expand the public housing stock for the victims.
Worker protection measures
In labor matters, the Government has announced that it will reinforce the ERTE due to force majeure so that all companies and workers affected by DANA, whether they are in the affected municipalities or not, can benefit from it.
For the workers The temporary disability benefit is assimilated to that of a work accidenteliminating the requirement of a number of previous years of contributions to be able to access it.
In addition, a new extraordinary benefit for partial cessation for self-employed workers: Self-employed workers will be able to: make their activity compatible for 3 months with receiving this aid. The amount will be equivalent to 50% of your contribution base.
Measures to guarantee the supply of supplies
The decree also introduces measures to guarantee the supply of supplies to the affected areas: It is prohibited by law to cut off electricity and gas to the affected households, and the consumer is allowed, without costs, to modify and temporarily suspend supply contracts, as well as defer bills.
In addition, telecommunications and service operators are urged to compensate their customers for services they have not received during the disaster.
