Mexico City.- PAN Senator Ricardo Anaya assured that the opposition is open to engaging in dialogue with the President-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, and also expressed that he wishes her to do well during her term.
This, despite the fact that the opposition, in protest, did not participate in the plenary session of the Senate where the declaration of constitutionality of the reform that transferred the operational and administrative command of the National Guard (GN) to the Secretariat of National Defense was made. (Sedena).
“We will always be open to dialogue,” said the PAN member after being questioned about it. “We believe that in democracy decisions should be built on dialogue, that those of us who think differently sit down to discuss, listen to each other and decide what is best for the country. We want the new president to do well, because if things go well for her, then things go well for the country,” he added.
Regarding Sheinbaum’s disagreement with the King of Spain and the Spanish Government, he stated that the administration is starting off on the wrong foot because of the outgoing Government.
“This administration does start off on the wrong foot, but because of the outgoing administration. The regime has been hardened. “Of course it starts off on the wrong foot, not because of the new administration, but because of this inheritance, this occurrence to carry out all these reforms in a rushed manner in the last days of the six-year term.” On the other hand, Anaya warned about brutal damage to democracy. “The first act was to gain a qualified majority here in the Senate based on gangster practices. Second, the first thing they did with that qualified majority was take control of the Judicial Branch through judicial reform. Third, with that same qualified majority, they militarized public security. “And fourth, what is yet to come, the reform regarding informal preventive detention, with which any journalist, any human rights defender, any opponent who is accused of tax fraud, without evidence, will be able to put in jail for up to two years.” These four acts, he warned, are the route towards an authoritarian regime that will have serious consequences. “There is no longer any doubt about that. In fact, the indicators are already beginning to reveal it. Because this hardening of the authoritarian regime is scaring away investments.” He pointed out that it will be the responsibility of the new administration to correct the path, to give legal certainty to investments, so that things go well for the people, so that the economy grows, there is employment and so that families can live well.
