The National Survey of Culture of Legality Prepared by the General Directorate of Legislative Analysis of the Belisario Domínguez Institute, 49 percent of people consider that the law is little respected in Mexico and 21 percent believe that it is not respected at all.
That is, seven out of 10 Mexicans consider that the law is little or not respected at all. Therefore, only 30 percent of the population in the country claims to respect the law.
Although it is necessary to specify that 56 percent of those surveyed by the Belisario Dominguez Institute He agrees that laws should always be respected, even those that seem unfair.
By analyzing the results of this survey, one can understand much better, but not justify, why Mexican citizens do not heed the recommendations made by authorities in most cases for the safety of the Mexicans themselves.
Recently, there are two cases that are worth mentioning and it will possibly be necessary for the authority to take more active measures on this issue, such as the case where bathers in Mazatlán enter the sea even when there is an indication not to do so due to the night or due to the presence of swell. The second case, the reported crashes on the so-called new boardwalk, and even when speed bumps were installed, the encounters are said to continue.
The lack of trust of citizens in the authorities is an issue that should be analyzed in more depth, and perhaps a good start is to begin to combat corruption within public institutions and that from the President of the Republic to the lowest official level, know that the law is respected.
