Berlin – “The traffic light is on” said Olaf Scholz after the coalition agreement was in place. A few days later, the SPD, Greens and FDP confirmed the new government paper within the party. Now the coalition agreement is to be officially signed.
Traffic light alliance: coalition agreement is to be officially signed
On Tuesday (December 7th) the SPD, Greens and FDP want to seal their joint government program. To sign the coalition agreement, top representatives of the traffic light parties come together in the morning (9 a.m.) in the Futurium, a Berlin center for exhibitions on the subject of shaping the future.
Then the designated Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Greens leader Robert Habeck and the FDP chairman Christian Lindner want to answer questions from the media in the federal press conference (10.30 a.m.).
With Hofreiter and Walter-Borjans: These traffic light negotiators sign the coalition agreement
The people involved in the signature are quite interesting. Because the coalition agreement will also be signed by politicians who do not play a major role in the new Scholz cabinet and who will withdraw from the front row. In addition to soon-to-be Chancellor Olaf Scholz and parliamentary group leader Rolf Mützenich, the SPD also includes the incumbent party leadership. Means: Saskia Esken and Norbert Walter-Borjans. The latter, however, would like to withdraw. In all probability, he will vacate his place for (still) Secretary General Lars Klingbeil, who will also be in Berlin.
The Greens send the party leaders Robert Habeck and Annalena Baerbock as well as the parliamentary manager Micheal Kellner. Interesting: The current parliamentary group leaders Katrin Göring-Eckard and Anton Hofreiter are also there. They should be replaced in December. From now on, the Greens parliamentary group in the German Bundestag will probably be led by a pair of women. Katharina Dröge and Britta Haßelmann are to take over.
The FDP sends the smallest group to the mandatory signature. In addition to party leader Christian Lindner, Volker Wissing (traffic) and Marco Buschmann (justice) are two future traffic light ministers. Bettina Stark-Watzinger (Education), who completes the FDP quartet in the Scholz cabinet, is missing from the list sent in advance by the FDP. (as)
