Morelia, Michoacán.- they are already 100 municipalities of Michoacán who have joined this year the Strengthening Fund for Peace program (Stronghold), to whom resources will be assigned to strengthen their municipal police and fight against the violence that exists in the state.
Among the 100 municipalities have been assigned 532 million pesos of the State Government to equip and train police officers, implement infrastructure and actions to prevent violence and citizen participation.
Today in Casa Michoacán an event was held in which the Fortapaz agreement was signed with 36 other demarcations, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla highlighted the municipal sense of this program that aims to increase security and coordination capacities to reduce crime indicators in Michoacán.
“I recognize the interest of the municipal presidents who decided to be part of Forapaz, which has a purse of 758 million pesos”of which he said, 135 million are committed to those who sign an agreement today: Aguililla, Arteaga, Angangueo, Chinicuila, Charapan, Cherán, Coeneo, Churintzio, Cotija, Huaniqueo, Jungapeo, Indaparapeo, Morelos, Irimbo, Nuevo Parangaricutiro, Madero, Parácuaro, Nocupétaro, Peribán, Nuevo Urecho , Quiroga, Penjamillo, Tanhuato, Purépero, Tingüindín, Santa Ana Maya, Tumbiscatio, Tingambato, Tuzantla, Tlazazalca, Vista Hermosa, Turicato, Zináparo and Villamar, La Piedad and Morelia.
Ramírez Bedolla, recalled that the money that has been injected into Fortapaz corresponds to one percent of the Payroll Taxwhich is paid by the productive sector of the state of Michoacán, which translates into significant support for businessmen in the state.
During the event, the state president called on the mayors to exercise resources honestly and transparently, as well as to maintain coordination between the three levels of government, the Armed Forces and the prosecutors to advance in terms of security and peacebuilding for the people of Michoacán.
For their part, the municipal presidents thanked the governor for his commitment and support to improve the living conditions of the inhabitants and agreed to properly apply the resources of Fortapaz to strengthen the operational and security actions in the localities.
