First modification:
Motorsports has been a traditionally male-dominated space. However, this year this sport in Argentina took a leap with a completely female team that competes in the Top Race Junior category: the Vitarti Girl’s Team. This arose as an idea of a pandemic and as a response to the absence of women: although there are many women who work at the zonal level in some categories, few are present as mechanics and pilots at a professional level.
It is one of the most popular sports in Argentina, almost every weekend car racing attracts thousands of spectators in various categories throughout the country. It is also a traditionally male sport in which, although there are female pilots, they are still a minority group. That is why the arrival of a women’s team on the slopes is a milestone this year.
In this edition of Ellas Hoy we talk with Tamara Vital, sports director of the Vitarti Girl’s Team, about this experience for parity.
