Theater Review “When you know how to use an alarm clock, you can decide for yourself who is poking” – Princess Little Kingdom’s joyous anarchism laughs at the whole family

New versions of classic fairy tales are also heard at the Finnish Comedy Theater’s Princess in Little Kingdom.

Princess Little Kingdom at the Finnish Comedy Theater March 3, 2022. Original works by Hannele Lampela, directed and dramatized by Lija Fischer. ★★★★

The script the importance has been emphasized in recent years in TV and film productions, and of course the same is true for theater. Because Princess Little Kingdom is a very exhilarating figure in her anarchism Hannele Lampelan in books, no play can be quite miserable. And yes, Lija Fischerin directing and dramaturgy works.

If someone doesn’t know the character, then Princess Little Kingdom is the most adventurous, naughty and lovely girl in the world adventurous in the book series, whose sausage dog can poop the magical village and make even amazing wishes come true. The princess’s little brother, strenuous Urpo, is a perpetual nuisance, while Pöjöläinen’s best guy.

The play is based on books Princess of the Little Kingdom winter and Princess Evening Fairy Tales. The latter will be heard at appropriate intervals, and the public will be able to vote on whether, for example, Little Red Riding Hood or Princess Rose can be heard. Fairy tales and choosing them work fun. When the Little Kingdom decides from the tale of Rose to the fact that “when you know how to use an alarm clock, you can decide for yourself who to poke,” the nascent comment scorches the applause.

However, it follows from the fairy tales and other cavities that the plot is quite fragile and the rhythm feels a little pounding at times.

The most important thing however, the performance has the humor of Pikkiriikki: the children are laughed at especially by the poopy stories and the recognizable child family comedy in which adults foolishly command and secretly eat chocolate from children.

Rosanna Kemppi energetically (but not at all) supports the whole show as a Little Kingdom that tries to be kind but somehow always ends up being a little naughty. Three other actors play a number of roles: Paavo Kerosuo plays, among other things, the father and the annoying Räkä-Eetus, Ella Pyhältö Pöjöläinen and Sausage Dog, and Anna-Leena Sipilä is the mother of the Little Kingdom.

Pikkiriikki (Rosanna Kemppi) and Pöjöläinen (Ella Pyhältö) are batman princesses.

The central element of the staging is a fun revolving bastard that bends into a sauna, a snow castle and a room in the Little Kingdom. It looks like a climbing frame and also has a frequently used slide that excites the four-year-old spectator. The glittery and plush overalls seen in the snow games of Pikkiriikki and Pöjöläinen are also a good insight.

The duration of about an hour is great for under-school or small school children, and the age recommendation for ages 3 and up is very appropriate. However, it is a little difficult for the little ones to see the stage from low seats, at least from the back of the Peacock Theater auditorium.

Set by Veera-Maija Murtola, costumes by Maikki Lehto, lights by Heli Suoninen, voices by Tapio Pennanen, disguise by Pirjo Leino.
