To whom given space and who is allowed to take it?

Marjo Niemen novelty play Standard play focus on tightening standards.

This year’s sixth book Consultation published Niemi’s previous play, A woman runs in the middle of a traffic jam, described, as the name implies, the peak years. It was performed at the Theater Open House in 2017.

Now The cape dives into a permissive environment of society and identity. Standard play build spaces on the KokoTeatter stage where gender and sexuality norms are explored.

Anna Veijalainen the elegant control of the refined stage gives way to a seemingly fragmented but insightfully constructed text that also humorously reflects on its own normality. Should there always be a twist in a play? According to classical drama theory, yes, but an actor, great Cristal Snow, just stumbles upon it.

Theater has a strong presence both at the level of text and structure.

For theater is the kind of theater. For example, a character who suits himself as a bad gay, in the role Petriikka Pohjanheimo, one has to consider what kind of norm would be terrain in each situation, so that there would be no difficulties again.

Designer Ellen Virman has conjured great lighting for the Koko Theater stage.

Actual there are no plots or psychologically constructed characters in the performance, situations are constructed through different spaces and prevailing conditions. Motion expression brings airiness to pictorial scenes.

A striking depiction is constructed, for example, by the huge pair of norms of theater (Jani Toivola and Cécile Orblin) and kindergarten children learning from the voices of an unequal past. Uncle Jorma’s uncle, Cristal Snow, who always seeks the space of others in the middle of the scene, builds with a few jerks and pulling up his pants.

The norm play can be viewed differently and self-ironically. It is light in its expression, but heavy in its message. It deserves additional mention Ellen Virmanin great lighting design.
