A fan decided to fix Hotel Marioconsidered by many the worst series title of all time. When Nintendo broke with Sony over the creation of a common console, which led to the birth of PlayStation, it made a deal with Philips to create a CD player for its 16-bit console. In the end nothing came of it, but Nintendo gave Philips the opportunity to use some of its intellectual properties to make games for the CD-i, its unsuccessful multimedia console.
An unholy agreement
They emerged from the unholy agreement the ugliest The Legend of Zelda in historynamely Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon and Link: The Faces of Evil, which have become cult objects over time, so much so that they received an apocryphal tribute game called Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore (which itself is decidedly beautiful).
Mario also suffered a similar treatment with the horrid Hotel Mario, a fixed screen platformer developed by Fantasy Factory, in which the heroic Italian plumber must save the usual Princess Peach, this time locked up in a hotel.
Hotel Mario wasn’t as disastrous as the two Zeldasbut it wasn’t even a game worthy of the name it bore. Over time his reputation even worsened, so much so that, as already mentioned, he is remembered as the worst Super Mario of all time.
The hero who is trying to improve the game is called @TiniestTurtles, who showed, after long and hard work, his Hotel Mario ReBooked in a teaser trailer, declaring that most of the project is now finished.
For the music he chose some unused songsoriginally created by Marc St. Regis. “I wanted to use them for the teaser because they fit perfectly,” he said of the game. Hotel Mario ReBooked doesn’t have an official release date yet, for those wondering. We just have to wait with religious enthusiasm.
