The World Health Organization praises the UAE’s support to meet the health needs in Sudan


The World Health Organization praised the great support provided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him” to its operations from the International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai, where the organization transported necessary health supplies and medicines from the International City for Humanitarian Services To meet the needs of 1.5 million Sudanese, including more than 300,000 health workers who need protection, in an operation that is considered the largest air bridge between the United Arab Emirates and Sudan.

The World Health Organization, in a report today, Monday, expressed its deep gratitude to the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who directed the transfer of these health supplies and medicines to Sudan.
The World Health Organization appreciated the continuous support provided by the UAE in conducting such trips to countries in need of aid.
Dr. Nima Abed, representative of the World Health Organization in Sudan, said that the transfer of these health supplies and medicines will save lives and alleviate suffering.

Health assistance includes more than 283 metric tons, worth more than $2 million, of essential medicines to support the health of children suffering from complications of acute malnutrition.
The World Health Organization said that this aid will be distributed upon its arrival to health facilities in 18 Sudanese states. Technical staff from the International Humanitarian City with supplies will also be deployed to run the operation.
