Economist: The career of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrsky depends on the outcome of the actions near Kursk
The career of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky may be under threat in connection with an attempt to break through to the Kursk region. This reports The Economist magazine.
The publication noted that the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is often criticized in Ukraine. “People may still question whether it was wise to allocate so many troops for an invasion when the critical front lines are thin. The answer to this question will depend on the success of the operation,” the article says. According to the author of the article, “the stakes are so high that General Syrsky’s career may depend on it.”
Earlier, CNN reported that a split had occurred in the team of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, as his subordinates doubted his ability to conduct military operations against Russia.
On August 6, Ukrainian troops began a massive shelling of the Kursk region, under the cover of which they attempted to break through the border using heavy equipment. Up to 300 militants, about 20 combat armored vehicles and 11 tanks participated in the operation.
