Russian Coalition-SV artillery systems, which will soon be deployed in the special military operation (SVO) zone in Ukraine, have enormous potential and can significantly affect the current situation. This was reported by the YouTube channel Defense TV on Tuesday, February 20.
“Russia will throw a heavyweight into battle – the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV howitzer, which can make a difference on the battlefield. This is one of the most lethal Russian artillery systems,” they emphasized in the video.
The howitzer is equipped with a chassis, which is a modified version of the T-90 tank chassis, which indicates high strength. “Coalition-SV” fires 152-mm shells at a distance of up to 70–80 km and at a speed of up to 15 shells per minute, the channel notes.
In addition, the howitzer can be controlled remotely, which makes the use of the Coalition-SV as safe as possible for the crew.
Earlier, on January 31, Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu inspected how the state defense order for the production and repair of self-propelled artillery systems was being carried out in Yekaterinburg. The Ural Transport Engineering Plant is fulfilling a state defense order for the production and repair of self-propelled artillery systems 2S19 Msta-S, 2S3 Akatsiya, 2S4 Tyulpan, 2S5 Giatsint, as well as 2S35 Coalition SV.
Before this, on January 5, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) received the first samples of the latest self-propelled artillery systems (SPG) “Coalition-SV”. The Rostec State Corporation completed their state tests in 2023. Serial production of this newest self-propelled gun and production of a transport-loading vehicle have already been launched. At the end of 2023, the first complexes were sent to the troops.
On December 28, the Chinese publication Sohu noted that Western equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will expect attacks from the new Russian howitzer 2S35 “Coalition-SV”. The publication emphasized that the most powerful fire will soon be fired against American M109 self-propelled howitzers and French CAESARs in Ukraine. In addition, the article noted that the new self-propelled howitzer is capable of firing 16 rounds per minute, while the rate of fire of conventional self-propelled howitzers ranges from six to eight shots in the same period of time.
Earlier, on December 27, the general director of the Rostec state corporation Sergei Chemezov said that the newest Russian howitzer “Coalition” should soon join the ranks of military equipment of the Russian Armed Forces in the special operation zone, which will provide superiority in range over the howitzers transferred to Ukraine by the West. He clarified that the Coalition successfully passed tests, after which its mass production began.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of a worsening situation in the region.
