After a couple of days of some relief in the heat, in which thermometers dropped below 40° on Thursday and Friday at 35° on Sunday, the week starts with a new thermal rise that will last until Friday, but the situation will change just ahead of the weekend, when a sharp drop in temperatures is expected that will be accompanied by rain and stormy showers in much of the country. , more abundant in the north of the Peninsula, according to Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this Monday. Thus, the weather will be hot again, especially between Wednesday and Fridaywhen the maximums “will exceed 32° to 34° in large areas of the northern peninsula and the Balearic Islands and from 36° to 38° in the center and south” and the minimums will not drop below 20° to 22° in points in the south and of the Mediterranean area.
To start, this Monday temperatures will rise, especially in the north and east of the Peninsula, and 35° will occur again in the Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys. On the other hand, the environment will be cooler in the Cantabrian Sea, where they will stay at 20°/22°. In the afternoon, storms will form in parts of the east, center and south of the Peninsula which, according to Del Campo, may be locally strong and accompanied by hail or intense gusts of wind.
🌡️ Wednesday and Thursday the heat of midsummer returns; between 35 and 38 ºC in the south of the peninsula and the Ebro valley; rest of the northern interior of the peninsula 30 to 35 ºC.

On Tuesday, temperatures will continue their climb in much of the country, with more than 30° in large areas of the north, from 32° to 34° in the center, Extremadura, western Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia and more than 34° /35° in the Tagus, Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys. Storms will emerge again in parts of the east, center and south of the peninsula, “but they will generally be less intense.”
On Wednesday there will be “a rise in temperatures in practically the entire country” and stable weather will prevail, without ruling out some isolated showers in the afternoon in parts of the interior, especially in the mountains. “The heat will be noticeable in almost the entire country, with 32° to 34° in Valladolid and Palencia, 35° in Lleida, Madrid, Toledo and Zaragoza and 38° in Seville and Córdoba,” says the agency spokesperson.
And, on Thursday, a new twist to the heat, with tropical nights ―in which it does not drop below 20°― in the northeast, center and south of the Peninsula and maximum temperatures of 34° to 36° in large areas, which will rise to between 36° and 38° in areas of the northeast, the center and the southern half, such as Madrid, Toledo, Granada and Zaragoza, and more than 38° in the Guadalquivir, with Córdoba again touching 40°. The proximity of an area of low Atlantic pressure will cause “more clouds and some scattered stormy showers in the interior of the Peninsula.”

On Friday, the influence of this Atlantic storm “will begin to be noticed more clearly”, which translates into rain and showers in the Cantabrian Sea, Galicia, Castilla y León and northern Extremadura, which could also weakly affect points of Navarra, La Rioja, Aragón, the central area, the rest of Extremadura and western Andalusia.
Temperatures, still with uncertainty in the forecast, “would begin to drop in the extreme south and in the northern third, but they would not do so in the rest yet,” so that the heat would still continue, with 30° to 32° in the northern and southern plateau of Galicia and from 34° to 36° in the Ebro depression, points in the Balearic Islands and a part of the center and south of the peninsular territory. Adding to this panorama will be the presence of haze on Thursday and Friday, especially in the south of the peninsula.
On Saturday, rain and stormy showers are expected in large areas of the territory. “Precipitation could reach almost any point, except the Mediterranean area and the Balearic Islands. The most abundant will occur in the northwest –southern Galicia, Castilla y León, Cantabria and the Pyrenees–”, Del Campo points out, to point out that on Sunday it is “likely that the unstable weather will continue, with rains and showers in the northern half, “which will also reach the central area, without ruling out some more isolated showers in the southern half and the Balearic Islands.” The heaviest rains will occur in the eastern Cantabrian Sea, northern Navarra, the Pyrenees, eastern Castilla y León and northern Catalonia, “although uncertainty is still high and this forecast could change.”
Temperatures “will drop noticeably between Saturday and Sunday in most parts of the country,” a drop that could be up to 8° to 10°. Thus, the most intense heat will be focused in the east of the peninsula, where the Ebro valley, the Mediterranean communities and the Balearic Islands could exceed 32° to 34°, while the environment will be milder in the rest, with between 20° and 25°. ° in the northern third and from 25° to 30° in the other areas. “During the first days of next week it seems that the weather will gradually stabilize again, although there could still be some showers, with temperatures rising again,” concludes Del Campo.
Meanwhile, In the Canary Islands, a regime of trade winds is expected in the coming days, with clouds in the north of the most mountainous islands and clearer skies in the south. During the second half of the week, scattered showers. Temperatures will remain unchanged.
