Since AMC announced a trilogy based on the character Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead series, many fans have been looking forward to his arrival. However, the television network had to stop production of the project due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite this, Andrew Lincoln, the actor who characterized the protagonist of the show, mentioned in December 2020 that the filming of the first film will begin in 2021. Now, a new report pointed out what category the fiction would have.
As stressed by the renowned insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon account (via Comicbook), the Grimes Adventures feature film would be R rating.
It would not be the first time that the film has been assumed to have content aimed at an adult audience. This is because the producer and scriptwriter of the franchise, Scott gimple, once compared the script of the new project with Logan (2017).
Recall that the X-Men tape was rated R for having a very violent plot and inappropriate language.
The Walking Dead: Michonne to play crucial role in Rick Grimes movies
As seen in the ninth season of The Walking Dead, the character disappeared after the explosion on the bridge. Most of his friends believed him dead, but his partner Michonne embarked on a new adventure in his search, so it was taken for granted that he would appear in the movies.
In conversation with Collider, showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed that fans will see her again on the big screen, as she is a key piece for this new chapter. “The end of her in the series was, in many ways, the beginning of the story,” he added.
