The volunteers made a last gesture of love to give him the peace he needed: the story of a little dog named Brandy
This is the story of the abandonment of a poor little dog named Brandy. He was betrayed by those he loved most. One day, the one who used to be his owner decided to get rid of him, because he has become too old, deaf and blind.
Man has well thought of lock him up on a property in Adelaide, Australia and to leave him at the mercy of his condition, alone, scared and without the food and water necessary to survive. Maybe he wanted his death to be slow and painful.
Fortunately, someone noticed him and suffered alarmed the volunteers of the local association, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals RSPCA.
When the rescuers arrived on the spot, to verify what was reported, they found themselves in front of one sad scene. The poor animal was surrounded by his own needs and his health conditions were very serious. The dog had an ear infection, intestinal worms, an ingrown and infected toenail with an abscess, advanced dental disease and a swollen eye.
The boys did what they could to save him from that hell, but once at the vet they found out there was nothing to be done for him. The only way they had to end his great pain waseuthanasia. A “last gesture of love”, this is how the doctor defined it, to give him the peace he needed.
Former dog owner Brandy sentenced
The volunteers then made sure his former owner paid for what he did to poor Brandy. Geoffrey Mortensen, 54 years old was reported.
He was an older, blind, deaf and totally vulnerable dog who was completely rejected by his owners when he needed it most.
The man was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and he was banned from having other pets. A sentence that has infuriated many animal lovers, but these are the laws that protect animal friends in many parts of the world.
