Lucy found herself stuck on a sheet of ice on the Detroit River: the intervention of the Police and Fire Brigade saved her life
What we are telling you today is the story of a recent extraordinary rescue in America. The protagonist of the story is a poor dog named Lucywho after running away from home found herself on a piece of ice floating on the Detroit River, in the United States of America.
Anyone, be it a person or an animal, needs his time for get used to a new home. Poor Lucy, this beautiful puppy, had recently been adopted by a wonderful family in Wyandotte, near Detroit.
Disoriented and confused by the new place, she is turned away a little too much from her new home and ended up being the protagonist of a potentially lethal mishap.
It didn’t take long for its owners to track it downhowever, it was not that easy to bring her home.
She had arrived on the banks of the Detroit Riverwhich in these periods is full of snow, and while swimming she found herself trapped on a piece of floating ice.
It was not far from the shore, but still impossible to reach without risking falling into the icy waters.
In a few moments, contacted by the dog’s family, she arrived on the spot Police. The agents needed time to come up with a perfect rescue plan. They thought about jumping into the water or even contacting the Coast Guard, but just before they made a decision, the Fire Brigade arrived.

The Firefighters, much more used to being in extreme conditions like this, they took matters into their own hands.
They stared a long time stairs to the dock and lowered it into the water. Then, a firefighter, equipped with one water repellent suithe lowered himself slowly to get as close as possible to the dog, trying not to scare her.
He later took a loop, kindly provided by the city animal control, and wrapped it around Lucy’s neck. Once hooked she pulled her very carefully and managed to grab it.
The puppy only had to bathe in the frozen water for a few seconds, but this allowed the agents to bring her to safety on the dock.
The heroes in uniform, happy to have saved a poor creature in distress, said that although she could not speak, she thank you with a sweet look and some tail wagging.
