Cardinal Kevin Farrel has been in charge of announcing this Monday at 9.45 the death of Pope Francis I. He has done so in a brief appearance in video in which he has pronounced the following words: “Dear brothers and sisters, with deep pain I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francisco. At 7.35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francisco, returned to the father’s house”.
Accompanied by Cardinal Pietro Parolin – Secretary of State of the Vatican -, in his brief speech offered since the residence of Santa Marta, where Francisco has spent his last days, Farrel – which in his condition as Camarlengo is administrator of the Vatican – has emphasized the figure of the pontiff.
“His life, all whole, has been dedicated to the service of the Lord and his Church. He has taught us to live the values of gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love, particularly in favor of the poorest and marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example of his true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we recommend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of God, one and triune.
