In a statement, the company’s management indicated that it has not been able to achieve cost savings to the extent that would allow it to conduct business in the long term.
The main problem was the financing of providing access to the network for hard-to-reach and isolated groups of the population, which was the main goal of the project. Some territories could not be provided with Internet even from balloons.
Recall that stratospheric balloons could provide data transmission at a speed of up to 20 Gbps and operated at an altitude of 18 thousand meters. One of the drawbacks was the power supply of equipment from solar panels, and therefore the signal was available only during daylight hours.
