In the United States over the past day, the number of cases of coronavirus infection reached a record high – over 195,542 people fell ill. As writes TASS, this is evidenced by data from Johns Hopkins University.
COVID-19 incidence rates for November 20 were the highest in the United States since the start of the pandemic, according to the university. At the same time, the number of deaths reached 1,878. The day before, an anti-record was recorded for deaths from coronavirus in the United States per day – 1,964 people died from the disease.
Today, the United States ranks first in morbidity and mortality from COVID-19. In general, more than 11.91 million cases of infection were registered in the country, 254,451 people died.
Note that the authorities of the largest Canadian city of Toronto (Ontario) are introducing a 28-day lockdown due to a sharp deterioration in the situation with the spread of coronavirus. At the same time, 1.4 thousand cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected every day in Ontario. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 319 thousand people have been infected throughout the country, 11.3 thousand of them have died.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that large pharmaceutical and technology companies were seeking his defeat in the election. According to the politician, drug maker Pfizer deliberately delayed announcements of the success of the coronavirus vaccine in order not to increase the incumbent’s chances in the election race.
